The Problem
While designing Jivamukti's social content, I saw their visual identity wasn't keeping pace with the studio they'd become — so I pitched a full brand refresh.
Inside the studio, people were forming real relationships, engaging with spiritual teachings, and experiencing meaningful change. Visually, the brand felt like a generic yoga studio—light and pleasant, but not distinct or clearly rooted in Jivamukti philosophy.
The challenge was to avoid clichéd yoga symbols, express spirituality without feeling rigid or traditional, and capture the sense of community and shared journey in a simple, recognizable system that could grow with the studio.

The Insight
Instead of using common yoga symbols, the identity draws inspiration from Kundalini energy. The snake represents growth, change, and the ongoing journey of practice, while the imperfect circle represents movement, unity, and community. Together, they create a visual identity that reflects both individual growth and shared experience.

The Design Process
The process started with getting to know Jivamukti philosophy and watching how students moved through and connected in the space. It became clear that yoga was the entry point, but people stayed for the sense of belonging, depth, and shared growth. The key shift was treating the mark less like a traditional logo and more like a community symbol, something people would want to wear and identify with, which led to the snake and imperfect circle as the core of a simple, focused visual system.

The Impact
The new identity gives Jivamukti Yoga Toronto a visual language that matches the depth of the studio experience. The symbol resonates with members around themes of growth and community, and the system is flexible enough to support future classes, workshops, and collaborations. The studio now feels spiritual yet contemporary, rooted in Jivamukti philosophy while remaining welcoming to anyone seeking mindfulness, personal growth, and connection.
